Project #1: Drawing with Oil Pastels, Inspired by Claude Monet

Set of 16 Oil Pastels: a fun medium for drawing, you can blend oil pastels with the tools provided and explore different techniques like hatching and smudging for interesting effects. Try out layering colors on top of each other to produce richer colors! You'll also be able to see how adding layers of different colors transforms the drawing.

2 Tortillionspaper stumps or tortillions are great for blending colors, especially white on another color to lighten a shade. 

1 Color Shaperthis tool has a rubber tip that can be washed and reused, blending with this tool will produce a slightly different result than the tortillion since it's made of rubber.  

Sketch paperthis is a lighter weight paper that is great for practice and testing out blending techniques. 

Mixed media paperthis is a heavier paper that can be used with oil pastels, it' more durable and can withstand the blending and layering of the oil pastels.  

Project #2: Drawing with Soft Pastels, Inspired by Edgar Degas

Set of 12 Soft Pastels: soft pastels are different than oil pastels and are more like chalk. Soft pastels are much easier to smudge and will create a much different effect when blending--you can even use a paper towel or your fingers for smudging!  

Soft Pastel Paperthis paper is light but made so that it will absorb the pigment of the soft chalk pastels. It comes in different colors that allows you to create a unique effect with the soft pastels.   

Plexiglass Sheet and dry-erase penfor this project, we’ll use plexiglass and dry-erase pen as drawing tool. You can trace over images to get a feel for how to draw lines, or you can even hold up the plexiglass in the air to practice drawing 3D objects. This will help to start training your brain how to see lines!

Butcher Paper: with each box we’ll provide butcher paper so that you can easily cover your flat working area—you can also use the butcher paper for sketch paper!    

Project #3: Painting with Acrylics, Inspired by Paul Cezanne

 

Set of 4 Acrylic Paints (18ml each): enjoy painting with Mont Marte artist grade acrylic paints. We’ll practice blending colors and creating form with color.

2 Acrylic Painting Brushesyou’ll receive 2 acrylic paintbrushes that have been tested by professional artists for quality. 

Canvas Paperthis type of paper is thicker with a tougher texture than other types of paper we’ve seen. It’s works well with layering and painting with oil or acrylic paints.

Artist Color Wheel: learn how to mix colors or get a refresher on how to mix colors. This is a great pocket tool to keep and explore ways of creating new blends and shades of color.
